Favourite Books from 2018

Hello book lovers! So the year is wrapping up and I was thinking that I wanted to share my favourite books of 2018! Now of course, I couldn’t include all of the books i loved this year as there was MANY so i had to contain it to rather large pile instead!

I am a sucker for a pretty cover, so you’ll probably notice that going through each of these books.

I had SO many reads that I wanted to share with you. But I decided that I would share most of my 5 star reads. This year has been amazing for me and reading, i fully immersed myself into my bookstagram. I discovered a new favorite authors Leigh Bardugo, Sarah J Maas, Jenn Bennett, Holly Bourne, V.E. Schwab, Akemi Dawn Bowman, Sara Holland, Jenny Han, Nadine Brandes, Holly Black, Ashley Poston, Alywn Hamilton and many many others.

A post apocalyptic world with one of the best character development and character arcs that I have ever seen. Sara and Pestilence are one of my favourite book couples now.

Another amazing read by the previous author. I fully fell in love with Laura’s writing. Her characters are so enjoyable, especially Callie and Des. I’m getting the next books for Christmas so i cant wait to read more about them. This book has angels and one of the best relationships i’ve read in a book.

A very recent read for me but i wish i’d found it sooner. There is so much action and fun stuff happening in here. We have amazing characters, a slow-burn romance, treks across the desserts, an abundance of princes, and a kick-butt heroine that I adore. This fast-paced book is full of plot twists and plenty of action.

What can i say. This book was top of my TBR and i finally got to it. I adore the characters in this book. Bardugo crafts the most amazing characters and the world is coming together. I haven’t read Crooked Kingdom but i will next year. This book is fast paced addictive YA fantasy. You will fall madly in love with Kaz Brekker – just a warning.

This book was recommended to me by a friend on bookstagram and i found it so cheap on ebay. It’s one of the top 3 books for me this year. The characters were perfect and the world was so beautiful. There’s a sidekick cat which i can’t ever refuse.

The Price Guide to the Occult on its own is layered, rich, and undeniably magical. I loved every single moment of reading it! This book is full of magical ideas and so many interesting characters.

I adored this romantic contemporary book. Kasie West is one of my favourite contemporary authors now. Her writing is so addictive and once you start reading her books you cannot stop. This is a super cute story.

A perfect modern Cinderella retelling. The cover is stunning. Ashley included loads of fandom easter eggs that i enjoyed spotting. Her writing style is so easy and immersive. I loved the main character Ella and Darian her love interest.

This book holds a special place in my heart. I adore Rook and Isobel. This was my first dive into a fantasy book this year and it was the one that started my obsession with fae off.

Like the above mentioned book another one of the first fae books i read this year. I cannot wait for the wicked king in january. it’s the most important book for me next year. prince cardan is my love and i can’t wait to read about jude again.

The aspect of time being used as money is never used in books, or at least I’ve never seen it before and it’s so cool to see it interact with magic and a fantasy world setting. The protagonist is badass. The world is beautiful and captivating.

This wonderful book is in my top favourites. It reminded me so much of many of my favourite books but new characters who i instantly cared about and wanted to thrive. I can’t wait for Emergence next year.

Finally, interesting characters! I loved Zera’s snarkiness and the constant battle she had with her inner monster. Loved Lucien! The romance is an incredible slow and beautiful burn, because Zera is on a mission to take Lucien’s heart, literally.

I thought the plot was interesting, good writing, and there was plenty of intrigue. Also, the side characters didn’t feel like paper, they felt real and were easy to connect to. There was some great action scenes mixed in

So that is my best of 2018 books! Have you read any of these? What did you think? I hope you all had a Merry Christmas and I hope 2019 brings you joy and we all discover amazing new books!
